Profilo Telra Integrates ViXS Video Processor in its New Wireless LCD Television
BERLIN—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Sept. 2, 2005—
ViXS Systems, the leading developer of video processing
and wireless chipsets, today announced that Profilo Telra Electronics
Inc. has incorporated ViXS' WaveTV(TM) Reference Platform and Matrix
II WLAN to offer the company's first fully integrated wireless LCD and
PDP televisions. The Profilo LCD-WiTVs and PDP-WiTVs, soon to be
available through European electronics retailers, feature integrated
802.11 receivers and allow consumers to wirelessly stream video to
display devices throughout the home. By incorporating ViXS'
technology, Profilo's wireless televisions feature high-quality video
processing and extended WLAN capabilities to ensure consumers are
always able to receive DVD-quality video distributed throughout the
home.
Both ViXS (Hall 26A, Booth 108) and Profilo (Hall 23A, Booth 108)
will showcase several wireless TV products in their booths during the
2005 IFA Electronics Show, September 2-7 in Berlin.
Profilo's Wi-TV products are based upon the ViXS WaveTV Reference
Design featuring the ViXS Matrix II 802.11a/b/g integrated circuit and
the XCode II-L video processor. WaveTV's low component count and small
form factor represent the industry's lowest cost and highest
performance wireless television reference platform. WaveTV also
incorporates ViXS' VQoS(TM) technologies to deliver reliable,
jitter-free, DVD-quality video throughout a large home.

The video electronics industry is rapidly developing TFT-LCD-TVs
that combine reception and playback without the clutter and physical
restriction of cables. Profilo's LCD-WiTVs and PDP-WiTVs are designed
to capitalize on consumer demand for more freedom and versatility and
are the first of several wireless video products the company will
introduce in 2005 and 2006.
ViXS' XCode II-L and Matrix II integrated circuits enhance
Profilo's product differentiation by using just two highly integrated
chips to guarantee increased performance while offering a very cost
effective solution. The XCode II provides transport stream (TS)
interfaces for a seamless connection to off-the-shelf MPEG decoders.
In addition, Matrix II's max-ratio combining, enhanced error
correction, and enhanced signal detection are used to increase the
overall performance of the wireless video network. When applied in
conjunction with ViXS' XCode II video network processor and ViXS VQoS
technology, WaveTV provides a full end-to-end wireless video solution.
